Here Are A Few FAQs We Get A Lot
What does it mean that this is a low-stress test?
We believe in learning and empowering with our test, not stressing kids out. That's why your child can pause and continue at anytime. Even more, our adaptive assessment meets your child at their level so that it's not too easy and not too hard. 
How does this test determine where my child is academically?
This is an adaptive test which means it meets your child exactly where they are. When your child gets a question correct, the test gets a bit more challenging and when they miss a question, it will get a little easier to help us pinpoint your child's exact level.

Can we sign up for Melanin Village Academy after the diagnostic?
Yes! Melanin Village Academy is the perfect next step after your child completes their diagnostic because it will pick up at your child's exact level teaching them the skills they are ready for next.
Do you provide reports for homeschool reviews/portfolios?
Yes! The reports provided by MVA will be perfect for your homeschool review and portfolios. Our reports show both how your child is doing individually and how they are progressing as compared to their peers nationally.  Your state may have additional requirements and if reach out to us and we will try and accommodate you in generating additional reports.
Will this assessment tell me what 'grade' my child is in?
As homeschoolers, we know it can be challenging to pinpoint or our children in one 'grade.' Your detailed report will tell you exactly where your child is academically emphasizing the skills they have mastered and are ready to work on. We also provide you with a reference chart of the grade-equivalent of your child's scores.
What happens after I sign up for the diagnostic?
Once you’ve signed up, you will submit a learner profile for each of your registered children. You will receive the diagnostic login details 24 hours prior to your test assessment date.
How long are the tests?

For Kindergarten and 1st-grade students, the diagnostic takes approximately 15-25 minutes (about 30 questions) per subject.

For 2nd-grade through 12th-grade students, the diagnostic takes approximately 30-60 minutes per subject with each subject test having about 45-50 questions.
